Weekly Reflections

Some of my post-birthday pondering...

Happy SOUL Care Sunday!

I don’t know if this will become a weekly segment. I made a commitment to myself that I would honor my capacity when restarting another newsletter.

I wouldn’t do too much.

I want this space to feel like a labor of love I come to willingly, not a chore I must begrudgingly complete — and so far, so great!!! I’ve loved setting a side a few minutes each Sunday to share what I find nourishing and restorative to my SOUL (aka my Source Of Unconditional Love) with you and I hope you’re enjoying reading these segments too. I do wish to be up front though because I want you to get used to seeing my name in your inbox on a regular basis…I just don’t yet know how frequent of an occurrence that will be.

Anyhoo…back to your regularly scheduled Sunday tea ☕…

This past week has been supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

It’s been a great first week of being 36!

I think I did one full day of actual work work all week!!

my mood from the Friday before my birthday to the Wednesday after! 🥴

I have so many photos to sort through to share at a later time — but what I found most nourishing this past week was creating new fun, lighthearted memories with my family. It’s been super dope reconnecting with them and learning how much we have all changed over the last few years while also relaxing into familiar ways of being and reminiscing.

For my actual special day (we celebrated the 3 of us, my mom, my brother and I the day before) my mom took me to the beach, to the movies to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice — fully expecting to suffer through it for my sake, but surprisingly enjoying it immensely (IT WAS SOOOOOO GOOD!) — and treated me to a gelato-italian ice-ice cream dessert 🤤😋. My inner child was sooo ecstatic😍🥰. And it felt like those moments replaced some of the less savory moments and memories I have with my mom as a child.

I know she did her best. She is now doing her best. And her best has bettered. I appreciate the healing growth of our relationship.😌🥹

I also nourished and was nourished by my creativity this week. I have been bead crafting. 📿📿 I made my mama and myself anklets. 📿📿 I’m working on a matching anklet, hand bracelet, waist bead combo to adorn myself — it is taking me a bit a of time (these beads are so teeny tiny) but it’s quite the meditative practice. The feel of my hands making something new, something artistic at that and also seeing the beauty unfold in real time is such a marvel!

(Unapologetic Plug: I make beaded body jewelry that I will soon be selling under my personal development and wellness platform, Peace Power Pleasure. The website is still under construction but debuting soon. You’re more than welcome to sign up over there as well to get updates on my beaded adornments and other self-love news).

I’ve also been dabbling in paint. I started a project a few weeks ago I’m so psyched about. Wait til I share all the pics I’ve been taking. This is really cool stuff! Lol.

Hmm…what else, oh…I wanted to share this abundance meditation I listened to this morning. It was the perfect way to begin my SOUL Care day.

Oh dang, so I had intended to share the meditation but there’s no way to link it directly here because it comes from the app so if you’re into mindfulness, astrology, abundance, meditation and the like, download this joint and then go listen to the abundance meditation. IT’S FREE! You don’t have to pay for a subscription (though it’s absolutely worth it!)

The last thing I wish to share — before I turn into a pumpkin, if you haven’t already, please check out the tool kit I created to help humans set and express healthier boundaries around providing support and care for the folks lovingly in their orbit. Speaking again of that creativity, I’ve been inspired to create a bunch of guides based on the affirmation practices I use, and my experience in conflict resolution. In the U.S. it’s National Suicide Prevention and Awareness Month. I feel part of how we can contribute to suicide prevention is by curating and sustaining healthier communication practices with our loved ones and of course sometimes our most important loved ones are ourselves.

So I’ll be sharing what I can to make practicing healthier communication easier. Because how awesome would it be if we all operated as one another’s sanctuary? If each interaction and exchange with your kinship community members, no matter how challenging felt like a place of security and refuge?

Download this toolkit if you’re a believer of breaking generational curses at home, in your community, in your work place and beyond…and share it with everyone you know.

Let me know how the information lands for you. And what all you’d like from this space.

I hope your week and your Sunday has been uplifting.

How have you poured into your SOUL (Source Of Unconditional Love)?
